Centrus Shows Uranium Enrichment Facility to Ohio Governor

Centrus Energy Corp. showcased its uranium enrichment facility in Piketon, Ohio, to Governor Mike DeWine and representatives from JobsOhio. The visit emphasized the facility's importance in bolstering U.S. energy security, advanced manufacturing, and the domestic nuclear fuel supply chain.

The Piketon plant is one of the few facilities in the United States capable of enriching uranium for nuclear power reactors. Centrus has been working to restore the plant's full production capacity, aiming to reduce American reliance on foreign uranium suppliers, particularly Russia.

Governor DeWine remarked on Ohio's growing significance in supporting strategic industries like nuclear energy. "This facility is key to ensuring the U.S. has a secure and domestic supply of nuclear fuel," DeWine stated. The visit provided state and industry leaders with an overview of the plant's operations and its strategic role in national energy independence and global competitiveness in nuclear technology.
