CeraVe: Study Highlights Gap in Skin Barrier Awareness

Skin care brand CeraVe has released findings from a new European study indicating a significant gap between consumer awareness and action regarding skin barrier health. The study surveyed 6,000 adults across the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.

While 90% of respondents expressed concern about at least one environmental factor affecting their skin, and 81% acknowledged the importance of protection beyond UV exposure, only 22% utilize products specifically formulated to strengthen the skin barrier. Furthermore, 47% report increased skin sensitivity compared to five years ago, with 50% experiencing dryness linked to environmental or climate changes.

The study's results were presented at the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology congress in Vienna. CeraVe convened dermatology experts and scientists to discuss the need for heightened awareness of the skin barrier and the scientific evidence supporting skin care product safety and efficacy. Dermatologists emphasized that clear, reliable guidance is crucial for maintaining skin health, even as awareness grows.

According to CeraVe representatives, the company aims to make skin health understandable and accessible. Their product development focuses on safety, efficacy, and simplicity, striving to provide consumers with trustworthy scientific information and effective skincare solutions.
