Cerebras Partners with AMD for AI Systems
AI chipmaker Cerebras has announced a partnership with AMD. Cerebras' chips will be integrated into AMD's Helios AI systems later this year, boosting the company's market presence.
AI chip manufacturer Cerebras announced today a strategic partnership with semiconductor giant Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). Under the agreement, Cerebras' advanced AI chips will be utilized within AMD's AI systems, named Helios.
Cerebras CEO Andrew Feldman stated at AMD's AI conference in San Francisco that the company's "wafer-scale" chips will be installed in AMD systems within Cerebras data centers later this year. Additionally, customers will be able to configure AMD servers to include Cerebras chips.
The collaboration highlights the increasing importance of ultra-low latency in AI solutions. Cerebras chips are engineered for rapid AI response times, potentially trading off some flexibility and overall power consumption. The companies claim their joint system will deliver five times higher tokens per second per watt compared to competitors.
Cerebras, which went public in May, has experienced significant stock volatility. The company also announced a substantial deal worth over $10 billion with OpenAI in January for computing power.
