Ceva expands wireless IP portfolio with Bluetooth HDT adoption

Ceva, a licensor of silicon and software IP, has officially integrated support for the newly adopted Bluetooth High Data Throughput (HDT) standard into its product offerings. The technology delivers nearly four times the previous maximum throughput for Bluetooth devices, alongside improvements in energy efficiency and overall reliability, targeting applications like high-resolution audio and industrial AI systems.

The company initiated development of its HDT-compatible intellectual property before the specification was finalized, combining its digital baseband expertise with proprietary radio frequency (RF) capabilities. This early development cycle has led to significant commercial uptake, with over ten companies currently licensing the technology. Notable adopters include Actions Technology, which has integrated Ceva’s IP into its wireless audio chipsets, and an unnamed major U.S. semiconductor firm.

Tal Shalev, Vice President of the Wireless IoT Business Unit at Ceva, stated that the company’s focus on RF integration and interoperability testing has enabled faster time-to-market for its clients. As the industry pivots toward advanced connected devices, Ceva continues to build on its portfolio, which encompasses Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Ultra-Wideband technologies to support the broader shift toward physical AI.
