CHAI AI Hits $100M ARR Amid App Store Safety Review
Artificial intelligence company CHAI AI has achieved $100 million in annual recurring revenue. The latest version of its app is currently undergoing Apple's App Store review process, with the company emphasizing significant safety enhancements.

Palo Alto, CA โ CHAI AI, a company focused on artificial intelligence, announced it has reached $100 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR). The latest version of the CHAI application is presently in Apple's App Store review process. CEO William Beauchamp stated that this new version incorporates substantial improvements to safety features.
The company, which has operated for over five years and serves millions of users, has grown from a small UK-based team to its current base in Palo Alto. Despite a lean team of approximately 15 employees, CHAI has concentrated on implementing advanced AI safety techniques. Beauchamp outlined the goal as establishing a comprehensive safety system that satisfies customers while protecting the long-term well-being of users and the broader community.
Key challenges in ensuring AI safety include moderating user-generated content and securing the AI models themselves. Beauchamp described the methodology, which involves "red teaming" โ a process where team members actively probe the safety system to identify and reinforce its limits. This approach is widely used in AI research.
According to Beauchamp, the recent safety iteration cycle has introduced a new AI governance system. This system is intended to enhance existing protocols and safeguards, while also providing tools for increased human oversight. CHAI AI aligns its product development and AI governance with the principle of prioritizing human benefit, referencing the vision of Professor Fei-Fei Li that AI development should center on human well-being.
