Chalmers University of Technology is strengthening its collaboration with KTH (Royal Institute of Technology) in artificial intelligence research through the recruitment of Professor Alexandre Proutiere. Proutiere, already a professor at KTH, has been appointed as a Scientific Advisor to the Chalmers AI Research Center (CHAIR).

The universities state that this appointment aims to deepen the collaboration between two of Sweden's leading technical universities in the strategically important field of AI. Annika Borgenstam, Vice President for Research at KTH, emphasized that deeper collaboration in AI will benefit both institutions and Sweden at large, contributing to the development of societally crucial initiatives.

Anders Palmqvist, Vice President for Research at Chalmers, views Proutiere's appointment as an important reinforcement that demonstrates the capacity of academic environments to interact within a strategically vital area. The significance of AI research is further underscored by the Swedish AI Commission's "Roadmap for Sweden," which highlights the necessity of cutting-edge research for the country's competitiveness.

Proutiere's focus will be on enhancing Chalmers' position as a hub for AI research by refining the research agenda, strengthening partnerships with industry and public organizations, and developing mechanisms to stay at the forefront of AI development. He stressed the critical role of collaboration in bridging the gap between research and practical application.

CHAIR is Chalmers' strategic investment in research, education, and collaboration in artificial intelligence. The center brings together researchers from across the university, working interdisciplinarily to develop and apply AI technology in close collaboration with industry and society, aiming to bolster Sweden's standing in AI and contribute to the technology's responsible and sustainable development.
