Chalmers University of Technology updates master's programme portfolio for 2027

Chalmers University of Technology has announced a restructuring of its master's degree offerings, set to launch in autumn 2027. The updated curriculum introduces optional specialisations, a standardized flexibility window, and the option to include minor subjects, allowing students to tailor their degrees more closely to industry demands.

Key additions to the curriculum include a new master's programme in space technology, focusing on the NewSpace sector and entrepreneurship. Additionally, the university is adding a specialisation in game design and development to its master's programme in Human-Centred Design and Engineering.

A central feature of the new model is the flexibility window during the autumn semester of the second year. This period allows students to pursue exchange studies, deep-dive into their core field, or complete a minor in complementary areas such as leadership or business.

Students currently enrolled at Chalmers will continue their studies under their existing syllabi without interruption. Application windows for the new programmes open in April 2027.
