Chamber of Crafts to Build New Education Center in Rendsburg
The Chamber of Crafts in Flensburg will commence construction of a new education center in Rendsburg this summer. The approximately 20 million euro project aims to strengthen vocational training in the region.

The Chamber of Crafts in Flensburg is set to begin construction on its new education center in Rendsburg this summer. The facility, planned for approximately 7,500 square meters on Willy-Brandt-Platz, is expected to cost around 20 million euros. The chamber stated the center's purpose is to bolster crafts professions within the region, with a particular focus on sanitary, heating, and climate technology.
Completion of the training center is anticipated by 2028, with capacity for approximately 300 apprentices. City officials view the new development as a significant step towards revitalizing Rendsburg's city center. However, the expanded facility will occupy a substantial portion of Willy-Brandt-Platz.
Consequently, the use of the square for public events will be significantly curtailed. The Chamber of Crafts informed the economic committee that activities such as circus performances will no longer be feasible. While some seasonal markets may continue as planned this year, the space will be limited to smaller events from 2027 onwards.
The investment addresses a growing need for skilled tradespeople in the region. The construction project is expected to enhance training opportunities, particularly in sectors crucial for modern infrastructure and climate adaptation.
