Chancellor Merz identifies Nvidia as key to economic growth

At the recent "Invest in Germany" summit in Berlin, Chancellor Friedrich Merz outlined a strategy to accelerate German economic growth through increased investment in infrastructure, defense, and technology. The event, held in tandem with Nvidia's GPU Global Technology Conference, underscored the government's desire to integrate global technological expertise into the German economy.

The German Federal Ministry of Research and Technology has formalized a declaration of intent with Nvidia to improve the utility of industrial data. The collaboration aims to deploy advanced AI models, such as Nemotron and Cosmos, to make large volumes of German industrial data actionable for commercial growth.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang highlighted the transition toward "physical AI," suggesting that industrial data integration is the next critical frontier. This partnership marks a continued effort by the German government to revitalize its digital industrial strategy, following past ambitious but largely unrealized initiatives such as Gaia-X and Industry 4.0.

While the government seeks to foster an open environment for AI, the effectiveness of these efforts will depend on whether domestic industrial firms embrace the shift toward data sharing and digital transformation. The government remains focused on stabilizing the investment climate through stable partnerships and strategic digital initiatives.
