Chinese automaker Changan Automobile has announced that its "Jin Zhong Zhao" (Clock Tower) battery technology has met the new stringent GT 38031-2025 safety standards for electric vehicle batteries. The new national mandatory standards officially came into effect on July 1, 2026, and are described as China's strictest battery safety requirements to date.

Changan Automobile stated that its "Clock Tower" battery design standard aims for "no fire, no explosion" and confirmed it passed all new national standard tests comprehensively in May 2025. The company claims it was among the first automakers in the industry to complete certification under the new regulations.

The company detailed that its proprietary battery system incorporates advanced thermal management, using new insulation materials that offer a 30% improvement in thermal insulation compared to industry averages. It also features a pulse heating technology designed to enhance battery performance in low temperatures (down to -30°C), reportedly increasing power output by over 55% and reducing charging times by more than 30%.

Changan further stated the batteries boast a lifespan of over 5,000 charge cycles, equivalent to 600,000 kilometers of driving with no perceivable degradation. The system supports 6C fast charging, capable of replenishing the battery from 30% to 80% in just nine minutes. Additionally, Changan is offering assurances to consumers, including compliance with the new national standards for all sold vehicles equipped with the "Clock Tower" battery, and a lifetime warranty on the powertrain for the first non-commercial owner.
