Chartwells K12 Launches "Power Up" Nutrition Program for Middle and High School Students

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Chartwells K12 has launched "Power Up," a new program designed for middle and high school students to improve their performance through nutrition. The initiative aims to educate students on how their food choices directly impact their energy levels, focus, and overall well-being throughout the school day and beyond.

The "Power Up" program utilizes a multi-faceted approach, featuring flavorful school meals, interactive tasting events, culinary demonstrations, and practical nutrition education. It is informed by generational insights into student preferences, emphasizing protein-rich and macro-friendly food options that align with current trends.

Meals offered within the program highlight recipes that utilize whole grains, lean proteins, fruits, and vegetables, intended to fuel both body and brain. Amy Shaffer, CEO of Chartwells K12, stated that school meals are a significant tool for student success, and "Power Up" uses appealing dishes as a platform for nutritional learning.

The program also includes pop-up tastings and workshops covering topics such as pre-activity fueling, post-activity recovery, hydration, and healthy eating on the go. Lindsey Palmer, Vice President of Nutrition & Industry Relations at Chartwells K12, emphasized that the program empowers students with knowledge for better food choices. "Power Up" is part of Chartwells K12's ongoing efforts to enhance the school dining experience with student-centered programming.
