ChatGPT Adds College Planning Tools for Teens

OpenAI is introducing new features to ChatGPT for Teens, a mode launched in August with safeguards and break reminders, to help younger users navigate the college application process. The update aims to streamline the often complex journey of applying to higher education.

The "College Planner" feature will bring together application requirements, deadlines, tasks, and financial aid steps for schools on a student's list into a single, organized plan. Students applying to multiple colleges can use the tool to track their progress, plan ahead using a timeline, and see what tasks remain.

Users will also be able to ask ChatGPT questions throughout the process, seeking clarification on requirements or guidance on how to start specific tasks. OpenAI has not yet provided a specific release date but stated the feature will arrive "soon."

This initiative reflects OpenAI's effort to expand the utility of its AI models into educational support, potentially offering a more accessible resource for students managing their college applications.
