Chemours faces class action lawsuit over financial disclosures

The Chemours Company is the target of a securities class action lawsuit following an 18.63% decline in its share price on August 5, 2026. The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, alleges that the company issued materially misleading statements about its financial health between February 20, 2026, and August 4, 2026.

The litigation centers on disclosures made during the company’s second-quarter earnings call. Management acknowledged that it had overestimated aftermarket demand for its Opteon products, admitting that aggressive sales in the previous fiscal year had led to an oversupplied channel. Consequently, the company was forced to lower its full-year adjusted EBITDA guidance to between $775 million and $825 million.

Plaintiffs argue that these disclosures revealed that the company had previously lacked a reasonable basis for its optimistic financial outlook. The law firm Glancy Prongay Wolke & Rotter LLP is currently organizing the class and has notified investors that the deadline to apply for lead plaintiff status is December 7, 2026.
