The model is a collaborative development involving Huawei, CATL, and Qualcomm. It features Huawei's Kunlun Smart Driving ADS 5 system and Qualcomm's latest generation Snapdragon 8397 automotive-grade chip. The vehicle is built on an 800V high-voltage platform.
The Freelander 8 measures 5,118 mm in length, 2,050 mm in width, and 1,898 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,040 mm. It adopts a 2+2+2 six-seat configuration. The interior includes a 15.6-inch central control screen and a 17.3-inch roof-mounted screen for rear passengers. The specifications highlight "zero-gravity" seats in the second row and Harman Kardon headrest speakers.
Power comes from a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine acting as a range extender, paired with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 610 kW and 813 Nm of torque. The 0-100 km/h acceleration is 4.6 seconds. The vehicle also features a 250 kW two-speed rear motor with 8,000 Nm of wheel-end torque, an 800V charging platform, and a CATL 60.3 kWh battery offering a CLTC electric range of 310 km. Charging from 20% to 80% is stated to take 12 minutes.
