Chicago Auto Show: Expanded Test Drive Event Concludes

The Chicago Automobile Trade Association (CATA) has concluded its 2026 Chicago Auto Show: Behind the Wheel event, held October 2-4 in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. The event provided over 3,000 in-vehicle experiences across more than 30 new cars, trucks, and SUVs.

Formerly known as Chicago Drives Electric, the event expanded its scope to encompass all powertrain types, including all-electric, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and traditional gasoline vehicles. Eight participating manufacturers, representing both luxury and mainstream brands, offered attendees the chance to explore a diverse range of automotive options and technologies.

CATA President Jennifer Morand highlighted the event's consumer focus. "Behind the Wheel gives consumers the opportunity to do more than simply look at the latest vehicles, it puts them in the driver's seat," Morand stated. The expanded event facilitated a broader presentation of vehicles and technologies in one location.

Product specialists from the participating manufacturers were on-site to answer questions and demonstrate vehicle features. The event aimed to offer consumers a practical way to compare vehicles and assess their suitability for daily use. The next Chicago Auto Show is scheduled for February 13-21, 2027, at McCormick Place.
