China: 205 Million Cable TV Users, 44 Million 5G Users End of June

China's National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA) released data yesterday on the country's radio and television service industry for the first half of 2026. The report indicates that the number of active cable TV users nationwide stood at 205 million households as of the end of June.
Concurrently, the number of users for广电 5G reached nearly 44 million. These figures highlight the subscriber growth in both traditional cable television and the emerging 5G network.
Total revenue for the national radio and television service industry in the first half of the year was 751.39 billion yuan, marking a 9.15% increase year-over-year. Revenue from actual service operations accounted for 675.37 billion yuan, up 11.05%.
Broadcast hours for radio programs totaled 7.64 million hours, and television programs totaled 9.12 million hours. Revenue was divided, with radio and television organizations earning 324.76 billion yuan and online audio-visual service organizations generating 426.63 billion yuan.
