The China Hour media initiative is significantly expanding the distribution and accessibility of Chinese audiovisual content in South Africa. This expansion is driven by a multi-platform partnership between Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation (JSBC) and the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).
The collaboration aims to provide South African audiences with a wider selection of Chinese films, television series, and documentaries. The objective is to foster cultural exchange and enhance mutual understanding between China and South Africa.
Launched in 2015, China Hour has primarily utilized traditional television channels and digital platforms. The current expansion involves new partnerships with local media operators to broaden the content's reach.
JSBC and SABC believe this partnership will strengthen the cultural dialogue between the two nations. Future plans include further increasing the exchange of both Chinese and South African content.
