China's Cyberspace Administration (CAC) has launched a nationwide campaign to address problematic practices within online entertainment streaming services. The two-month initiative, part of the broader 'Qinglang' (clear and bright) series of special actions, aims to rectify issues ranging from account registration to content moderation and the protection of minors.

The campaign will focus on six key areas of concern. These include irregular account registration, such as the failure to display the affiliated MCN (Multi-Channel Network) institution's name and non-compliance with real-name verification. Particular attention will be paid to 'PK' (player versus player) challenges and aggressive gifting mechanics designed to solicit financial contributions. This also encompasses the use of improper gameplay tactics to stimulate donations.

Furthermore, the crackdown targets other problematic content and behaviors. This includes the dissemination of vulgar or harmful content, potentially involving sexually suggestive or disturbing material. The protection of minors is also a critical focus, addressing instances where they are involved in streams or exploited to encourage donations. The campaign also scrutinizes management failures by MCN institutions, including self-gifting practices, deceptive consumer engagement, and the creation of inappropriate content.

The CAC intends to penalize and publicly expose non-compliant platforms and content creators to establish a deterrent effect. Through these targeted actions, the agency aims to enforce stricter regulations and foster a healthier online environment for entertainment streaming.
