China Mobile rebrands Hebao payment service as Mobile Wallet
China Mobile has rebranded its long-standing Hebao mobile payment platform to Mobile Wallet, introducing an integrated service management interface.
China Mobile, via its subsidiary China Mobile Payment Co., has rebranded its Hebao mobile payment application to 'Mobile Wallet'. The transition marks a strategic pivot to centralize the management of digital assets, including coupons, membership points, and payment records.
Originally launched in 2011, the platform has evolved from simple mobile payment capabilities to a comprehensive suite that supports NFC-based transactions for public transit and retail, as well as utility bill payments. The latest update aims to streamline these functions into a single interface to improve user navigation.
Key features of the updated application include consolidated asset tracking, automated reminders for billing cycles, and direct access to peripheral services such as insurance and financial products. The move is designed to simplify the user experience for China Mobile’s subscriber base.
