China Railway Extends Discounts for Travelers Aged 60 and Above
China Railway has announced an expansion of its discount program for passengers aged 60 and older. A new 'discount on discount' offer will apply to tickets purchased between October 18 and December 30, 2026.
China Railway has announced an expansion of its discount program for passengers aged 60 and older. Following a previous offer for mid-week travel during spring and summer, the national rail operator will now provide an additional discount on specific train tickets marked with the character "敬" (jing). This expanded offer is valid for tickets purchased between October 18 and December 30, 2026.
The new "discount on discount" initiative applies to all passengers 60 years of age or older purchasing tickets for trains designated with the "敬" symbol. This offers a further 10 percent reduction on the already discounted ticket price, and it will be available on all days of the week, not restricted to weekdays as in previous schemes. These discounted tickets will be available for purchase starting October 4, and will be marked as "é•·è€…å„ªæƒ " (senior discount) in the order details.
Additionally, certain groups, including disabled military personnel and police, will receive this additional 10 percent discount on top of their existing preferential fares. Frequent senior travelers will also continue to earn triple points under the current loyalty program, which can be redeemed for tickets or seat upgrades.
