China-SCO Digital Economy Platform Marks One Year with New Milestones

The China-Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Digital Economy Cooperation Platform marked its first anniversary on September 15, highlighting advancements in digital infrastructure, cross-border collaboration, standard development, and talent cultivation.

The platform has facilitated 29 cross-border cooperation projects. Additionally, its pilot zone in Tianjin Binhai New Area has launched 70 digital economy projects, encompassing computing infrastructure, digital trade, and commercial aerospace.

The pilot zone has seen enhanced digital connectivity, establishing a heterogeneous computing resource pool with 150,000 accelerator cards and engaging over 700 ecosystem partners. New initiatives for data classification, cross-border data flows, and digital talent development have also been implemented. Trade between the pilot zone and SCO countries grew by 14 percent in 2025 compared to the previous year.

Collaboration is expanding into practical applications. An industry alliance for commercial satellite data services has been formed in Tianjin, offering services for crop monitoring, disaster warning, and environmental protection. Tianjin University and Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine have launched the Qihuang Medical Hall, leveraging AI and digital technologies to promote traditional Chinese medicine internationally.

The platform is supported by an alliance of 28 SCO digital economy think tanks. Six new cooperation agreements have been signed, covering AI infrastructure, intelligent logistics, geospatial intelligence, and digital healthcare. Tianjin also introduced "Hehe," an AI dialogue agent supporting over 100 languages, inviting SCO partners to deepen digital economy collaboration.
