China Society of Automotive Engineers outlines top 10 automotive tech trends for 2027

The China Society of Automotive Engineers has identified ten key technological trends expected to shape the domestic automotive industry by 2027.

29 October 2026

During the 33rd Annual Meeting of the China Society of Automotive Engineers (CSAE) in Suzhou, the organization released its forecast for the top ten automotive technology trends for 2027. The findings are intended to guide industrial strategic planning and collaborative innovation.

Central to the report is the advancement of battery technology, specifically the transition to pilot production for solid-state batteries reaching an energy density of 400 Wh/kg. The report also highlights the debut of mass-produced RISC-V automotive micro-controllers (MCUs), signaling a shift in electronic architecture standards.

Other notable trends include the commercial scaling of V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) energy regulation, the use of magnesium alloy integrated casting, and the deployment of 14B parameter AI models in cockpit systems. By prioritizing these areas, the organization aims to align research resources across the automotive sector as it navigates performance and cost-reduction challenges.
