China Southern Power Grid Showcases AI for Energy Systems

China Southern Power Grid (CSG) showcased its latest AI-powered energy systems and technologies at the World AI Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai. The presentations focused on integrating electricity, carbon emissions management, and computing power.

A key highlight was MegaWatt Yunrui, an AI-based planning agent developed by CSG for distribution grids. During a live demonstration, the system automatically generated a comprehensive distribution grid planning report, including risk assessments and topology recommendations, within ten minutes. MegaWatt Yunrui was recognized as one of the conference's "Top 10 Signature Exhibits."

CSG has been developing a proprietary technology stack encompassing foundational models for the power sector, intelligent robots, and digital infrastructure. The company aims to establish China's first industry-wide coordination platform for electricity, carbon, and computing power, laying the groundwork for next-generation smart grids.

Further innovations included "MegaWatt Multimodal 2.0," a foundational model tailored for the energy sector, and PowerAtomOS, an operating system for Internet of Things (IoT) devices within the energy industry. PowerAtomOS is designed to ensure centralized connectivity and management for hundreds of millions of devices.

The company stated that its strategy extends beyond AI applications to creating the technological foundation for future intelligent power supply systems, supporting the digital transformation of next-generation power grids.
