China-U.S. Youth Delegation Explores Dali's Past and Future Development
A delegation of youths from China and the U.S. visited Dali in Yunnan Province, examining the intersection of the region's history and modern development, including cultural heritage and new energy initiatives.
A China-U.S. youth delegation visited Dali in Yunnan Province on July 17, exploring how the region's rich history aligns with its modern development and examining new pathways for rural growth. The group aimed to foster cultural exchange and understanding between the two nations' youth.
Delegates toured Dali Old Town and the ancient town of Xizhou, experiencing the local Bai culture, including the traditional 'Three-Course Tea.' They observed how contemporary tourism coexists with the daily lives of residents. The delegation also visited Yunnanyi Village, learning about its historical significance as a stop on the Tea Horse Road and its role during World War II.
During their visit to the Xiangyun Economic and Technological Development Zone, delegates saw firsthand how green, low-carbon development is driving regional progress through a local new energy company. Discussions included China's national goals for carbon neutrality and zero-carbon targets by 2060.
The delegation also walked along the Erhai Lake Ecological Corridor. The exchange program was co-hosted by China International Communications Group (CICG) Center for the Americas and the U.S.-based International Student Conferences. Following their visit to Dali, the delegation is scheduled to travel to Beijing for further exchanges.
