China's 2026 Film Box Office Exceeds 25 Billion Yuan

China's total film box office revenue for 2026, including pre-sales, has exceeded 25 billion yuan. The summer season proved particularly strong, with daily box office receipts surpassing 100 million yuan for 34 consecutive days.

Data indicates that over 630 million admissions were recorded, with more than 93.74 million screenings held. These figures point to a significant resurgence and growth within the Chinese film industry.

The top-grossing films for the year so far include "Pegasus 3," "Kung Fu Soccer Girls," "Letter to Grandma," "The Eight Immortals!," and "Blade of the Immortals: The Desert Wind." These titles have collectively drawn substantial audiences and revenue.

Earlier in 2026, the animated film "The Eight Immortals!" surpassed 1.5 billion yuan in box office revenue within 27 days of its release, ranking it seventh among China's highest-grossing animated films. The continued upward trend suggests sustained consumer interest and a robust recovery for the cinema sector.
