China's 5G Base Stations Reach 5.15 Million
As of the end of July, China had deployed a total of 5.15 million 5G base stations, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The proportion of 5G mobile phone users exceeded 70 percent.
China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) reported steady progress in the nation's 5G network construction. By the end of July, the total number of 5G base stations in China reached 5.15 million, an increase of 316,000 from the end of the previous year. These stations now account for 39.4% of all mobile base stations.
The number of 5G mobile phone users reached 1.303 billion by the end of July, constituting 70.5% of the total mobile phone user base of 1.847 billion. This represents a significant increase of 98.75 million 5G users since the end of 2025.
During the first seven months of the year, the telecommunications industry's total revenue was 1.02 trillion yuan, a 2.1% decrease year-on-year. However, the overall business volume of the telecommunications sector grew by 7.7%. The number of fixed broadband internet users reached 702 million, with users accessing speeds of 1000 Mbps or higher accounting for 260 million, or 37.1% of the total.
Mobile internet traffic saw a 17.6% increase in the first seven months, with the average monthly data consumption per user (DOU) reaching 23.81 GB in July. Meanwhile, traditional mobile services such as voice calls and SMS continued their decline.
