China's Consumer Prices Rise: Storage Devices and Computers See Significant Price Increases
China's National Bureau of Statistics reported that in September, prices for data storage devices, tablet computers, computers, and mobile phones rose significantly year-on-year.
China's National Bureau of Statistics announced that in September, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 0.9% compared to the previous year. While overall inflation remained moderate, specific technology products saw substantial price increases.
Prices for data storage devices increased by 46.7%, tablet computers by 23.6%, computers by 21.8%, and mobile phones by 14.9%. These rises contributed to the overall inflation and were more pronounced than in the previous month.
Other notable price increases included gasoline, which rose by 16.6%. Prices for services remained unchanged at 0.8%, although travel-related service prices decreased as the summer holiday period concluded.
The Producer Price Index (PPI) saw a year-on-year increase of 5.0% in September. While consumer price rises were more subdued, the increase in producer prices suggests potential future cost pressures for businesses.
