In the first six months of the year, 140 million Chinese consumers made purchases globally through cross-border e-commerce channels. Exports within this burgeoning sector saw a 3.3 percent increase, according to the General Administration of Customs. This development highlights the robust expansion of new business formats in China's foreign trade.

China's overall foreign trade volume grew by 16.9 percent year-on-year during the first half of the year. Exports rose by 13.4 percent, while imports increased by 22.1 percent, reflecting a strong economic performance.

The customs authority is accelerating the upgrade of its smart customs systems. By 2030, expect over 90 percent of ports and border crossings to be equipped with intelligent inspection equipment. The aim is to enhance regulatory services and streamline customs clearance, making it more efficient for businesses and individuals.

China currently serves as a primary trading partner for over 160 countries and regions. The country's import basket has diversified, with goods arriving from a wider array of sources and global locations, ranging from milk from Oceania and coffee from Africa to fresh salmon from Europe.
