China's Domestic Air Fuel Surcharge Reduced Again
The fuel surcharge for domestic flights in China will be lowered starting August 5, 2026. The cost per passenger will decrease to 40 yuan for shorter routes and 70 yuan for longer ones.
Airlines have announced a reduction in the fuel surcharge for domestic flights, effective August 5, 2026, according to reports from online travel booking platforms. This adjustment will apply to all tickets issued from this date forward.
For flights up to 800 kilometers, the fuel surcharge will be reduced by 10 yuan to 40 yuan per passenger. For flights exceeding 800 kilometers, the surcharge will decrease by 30 yuan to 70 yuan per passenger. This marks the latest change in a series of adjustments to the fees throughout the year.
The new rates are 40 yuan for shorter routes and 70 yuan for longer ones. Infants will continue to be exempt from the surcharge. Children and specific categories of passengers, including disabled military personnel and police officers, will be charged half the standard rate, amounting to 20 yuan for shorter flights and 30 yuan for longer ones.
The surcharge is calculated based on the original ticket issuance date. Changes to flight itineraries after issuance will not result in a refund or additional charge for the fuel surcharge. The reduction reflects recent fluctuations in global oil prices.
