China's e-paper tablet market experienced a significant downturn in the first half of 2026, with total sales falling 22.1% year-on-year to 646,000 units. The data comes from a report by RUNTO Consulting.

Online platforms remained the primary sales channel, accounting for 83% of total sales, or 536,000 units. While the online channel's share slightly increased, it could not offset the overall market decline. Offline channels constituted the remaining 17% of sales.

E-paper tablets are categorized into three main types: readers, office notebooks, and study notebooks. During the first half of 2026, online sales for readers increased by 22.3% to 380,000 units. In contrast, office notebook sales decreased by 30.5% to 126,000 units, and study notebook sales plummeted by 84.6% to 30,000 units.

Market concentration is high, with the top five brands โ€“ Hanvon, iReader, Onyx, iFlytek, and Yuexingtong โ€“ capturing a combined 84.1% of the online market share in early 2026. This represents a substantial increase from the previous year, indicating a highly concentrated market structure dominated by a few key players.
