China's Electronics Manufacturing Revenue Up 17.1% in January-May
Revenue in China's electronic information manufacturing sector reached 7.52 trillion yuan from January to May, a 17.1% year-on-year increase. The sector saw rapid production growth and improved profitability.

China's electronic information manufacturing sector reported revenues of 7.52 trillion yuan for the first five months of 2026, marking a 17.1% increase from the previous year. Data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) indicates rapid production growth and significant improvements in profitability across the industry.
The added value of large-scale electronic information manufacturing enterprises increased by 14.6% in January-May. This growth rate exceeded that of the overall industrial sector by 9.2 percentage points and the high-tech manufacturing sector by 1.5 percentage points. In May alone, the sector's added value grew by 17%. Notably, mobile phone production saw a 1.3% decrease to 562 million units, although the output of smartphones increased by 3.3% to 477 million units. Production of microcomputer equipment fell by 12.2%, while integrated circuit output rose by 25.4%.
Exports from the sector showed steady progress, with the export delivery value increasing by 6.1% in January-May, a slight improvement from the previous reporting period. In May, export delivery value saw a 9.9% year-on-year increase. While exports of televisions grew by 4.2% and integrated circuits by 8.7%, mobile phone exports declined by 2.5%.
Overall profitability significantly improved, with total profits in the sector more than doubling to 422 billion yuan. Fixed asset investment in the electronic information manufacturing sector grew by 6.7%. The central region of China experienced particularly strong revenue growth, with a 42.1% increase during the January-May period.
