China's EV Battery Installations Rose 14.7% in September
China's electric vehicle (EV) battery installations reached 87.2 GWh in September, marking a 14.7% year-on-year increase. Lithium iron phosphate batteries constituted the majority of installations.

Electric vehicle (EV) battery installations in China reached 87.2 GWh in September, an increase of 14.7% compared to the same period last year, according to data released by the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance.
The growth was largely driven by lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. In September, LFP battery installations amounted to 74.5 GWh, representing 85.5% of the total, and saw a year-on-year increase of 19.9%. In contrast, nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery installations were 12.3 GWh, accounting for 14.1% of the total, and decreased by 10.9% year-on-year.
For the first nine months of the year, cumulative domestic EV battery installations reached 576.3 GWh, a 16.7% increase compared to the previous year. LFP batteries accounted for 477.2 GWh (82.8% of the total), growing by 18.5%, while NMC batteries accounted for 97.9 GWh (17.0%), growing by 7.3%.
Industry leaders Ningde Era and BYD continued to dominate the market, though their combined share saw a slight decrease compared to the previous month. The data indicates continued expansion in China's EV market and evolving battery technology preferences.
