China's EV Charging Infrastructure Grows 43.2% to 23.06 Million Points

China's electric vehicle charging infrastructure grew by 43.2% year-over-year, reaching a total of 23.06 million charging points by the end of June 2026, according to data released by the National Energy Administration.

The public charging infrastructure accounted for 5.01 million points, a 22.3% increase, with a total rated power of 247 million kilowatts. Private charging facilities saw a larger expansion, growing by 50.4% to 18.05 million points, with an installed capacity of 155 million kilovolt-amperes.

During the first half of the year, the development of the charging network accelerated. For example, during the public holiday in early May, the total number of charging sessions on highways reached nearly 4 million, an increase of 14.09% compared to the Spring Festival holiday, setting a new record.

Significant progress was also made in building high-power charging facilities, with over 180,000 such points established by June 2026. Furthermore, efforts to expand the charging network in county-level and rural areas continued, with coverage reaching 98.61% in these regions.
