China's General Administration of Customs reported that the country's export of cooling home appliances, such as air conditioners, fans, and refrigerators, reached a total of 107.9 billion yuan (approximately $15 billion USD) in the first half of 2023. This surge occurred amidst a global increase in high temperatures and heatwaves.

Customs officials highlighted the continued importance of traditional export categories, including mobile phones, computers, and home appliances, in stabilizing foreign trade. The integration of smart technologies is enhancing the quality and brand value of Chinese home appliances. Notably, domestic brands now represent a quarter of all exported home appliances.

Technological products also contributed significantly to export growth. Exports of electronic components and computer parts saw double-digit increases, collectively boosting overall exports by 6.9 percentage points. Exports of intelligent bionic robots, integrated with artificial intelligence technology, surpassed 10,000 units and were distributed to over 90 countries.

Beyond cooling appliances, China's exports in green energy sectors also showed robust growth. Lithium battery exports rose by 37.6%, and wind turbine exports increased by 35.6%. In the green transportation sector, electric vehicle exports grew by 68.7%, electric railway locomotives by 45.1%, and electric bicycles and motorcycles by 31.5%.
