The FAST radio telescope, often referred to as China's "Sky Eye," has completed the replacement of six large steel cables in its mountainous location in Guizhou province. This maintenance ensures the continued operation and scientific observation capabilities of the facility.

To date, FAST has successfully identified 1,284 pulsars. This number significantly exceeds the total number of discoveries made by all other international telescopes during the same timeframe. The data gathered provides crucial insights into the evolution of the universe and the study of extreme astrophysical phenomena.

The commissioning of FAST in 2016 marked a pivotal shift for China's radio astronomy research, moving the nation from reliance on external data to independent production of core scientific data. Previously, Chinese astronomers largely depended on foreign datasets for their research efforts.

FAST, with its 500-meter diameter, stands as the world's largest single-aperture radio telescope. Its construction, conceptualized in 1994, was completed and the telescope became operational in September 2016, representing a major advancement in Chinese astronomical capabilities.
