China's First Hot and Humid Climate Vehicle Test Base Operational
China's first vehicle export base for hot and humid climate testing has begun operation in Hainan province. The facility aims to enhance the export of Chinese vehicles, particularly for markets in Southeast Asia and Africa.

China's first dedicated testing base for vehicles destined for export in hot and humid climates commenced operations on July 9th in Qionghai City, Hainan Province. The facility is designed to bolster the Chinese automotive industry's global reach by ensuring vehicle suitability for diverse international environmental conditions.
The base features six testing roads equipped with roadside communication units, millimeter-wave radar, lidar, and edge computing modules. These enable type approval and simulation tests for export models under hot and humid conditions, reflecting climates found in regions such as Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America. Specific tests include evaluating the high-voltage battery and wiring harness insulation performance of new energy vehicles under conditions of high humidity and condensation.
This new testing center is expected to address challenges such as lengthy testing cycles faced by domestic automakers exporting vehicles. It aims to provide robust technical assurance and enhance the overall quality and competitiveness of Chinese-manufactured automobiles in the global market.
China's automotive export figures show significant growth. In June 2024, vehicle exports reached 1.037 million units, a year-on-year increase of 75.1%. For the first six months of the year, total vehicle exports amounted to 5.096 million units, marking a 65.3% increase.
