China's First Right-Hand Drive Export Vehicle Road Test Launched in Hainan
China's first systematic right-hand drive export vehicle road test has begun in Haikou, Hainan. This new testing facility allows domestic automakers to adapt vehicles for Southeast Asian conditions without costly overseas trips.

The first systematic, large-scale public road test for China's right-hand drive export vehicles has commenced in Haikou, Hainan province. The event also marked the launch of a cooperative mechanism between China and ASEAN countries for automotive testing and calibration.
Established in the Jiangdong New Area of Haikou, this initiative addresses the lack of comprehensive right-hand drive vehicle road testing scenarios within China. Going forward, domestic automakers will be able to complete full vehicle road calibrations, tailored to the road conditions, climate, and regulations of Southeast Asian markets, directly on Hainan.
This development is expected to significantly reduce the financial and time costs associated with overseas testing. Carmakers can now shorten their vehicle development cycles by completing these crucial tests domestically. The project also aims to build an international service system that facilitates "one test, multiple country acceptance," aligning testing standards and mutual recognition of certifications between China and ASEAN nations like Thailand and Malaysia.
Officials stated that the collaboration seeks to resolve industry bottlenecks related to repetitive testing and certification processes across multiple countries. The Hainan facility is designed to foster closer ties and streamline automotive development for markets in the region.
