China's gaming market experienced significant growth in mobile and PC segments during the first half of the year, while web and console games continued their decline. Mobile games generated RMB 135.21 billion ($19.98 billion) in sales revenue, marking a 7.9% year-over-year increase.
The PC game market showed a strong performance, posting RMB 45.29 billion ($6.69 billion) in actual sales revenue. This represents a substantial 27.92% increase compared to the same period last year, indicating a robust expansion in PC gaming.
In contrast, the web game market continued its downward trend for the third consecutive year. Revenue for web games fell by 8.47% to RMB 2.02 billion ($300 million). Similarly, the console game market also saw a decrease, recording RMB 961 million ($142 million) in actual sales revenue, a 7.06% year-over-year decline.
The data, released at the China Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference (ChinaJoy), highlights a divergence in China's gaming landscape, with mobile and PC platforms driving growth while older formats struggle to maintain their market share.
