China's Ministry of Transport reported 303.34 million inter-regional passenger trips on October 5, a 1.7% increase compared to the same day last year.

Inter-regional passenger flow across China reached 303.34 million on October 5, the fifth day of the National Day holiday period. This figure represents a 1.7% increase compared to the same day in the previous year, although it was a 0.7% decrease from the previous day.
The Ministry of Transport noted significant year-on-year growth in rail travel, with 21.05 million passenger trips, marking a 28.5% increase. Water transport also saw substantial growth, carrying 1.53 million passengers, up 18.7% from the previous year.
Air travel recorded 2.45 million passenger trips, a 1.7% increase year-on-year. Road travel, which constitutes the largest share, saw a more modest increase of 0.1%, reaching 278.3 million passenger movements. Within road transport, non-commercial small vehicle travel saw a slight decrease of 0.5%.
The data provides insight into national mobility patterns during the extended holiday period, reflecting a continued preference for certain modes of transport over others.
