China's ModelBest Releases Open-Source AI Model MiniCPM5-2B for Edge Devices

Chinese AI startup ModelBest has released an open-source language model named MiniCPM5-2B. The model is optimized for operation on edge devices, such as smartphones and IoT devices, bringing advanced AI capabilities directly to hardware without constant cloud connectivity.

In conjunction with the release, ModelBest stated that the development of MiniCPM5-2B focused on efficiency and low resource consumption. This allows complex AI tasks, like natural language understanding and generation, to be performed on smaller devices with limited computing power and memory.

The model was released in collaboration with the OpenBMB open-source community. The aim is to advance AI development and accessibility globally by providing developers and companies with tools to build their own AI applications.
