China's digital economy core industries saw significant growth in 2025, with service robot production reaching 18.58 million units, a 16.1% year-on-year increase, according to a national report.

China's production of service robots reached 18.58 million units in 2025, marking a 16.1% increase from the previous year. The figures are detailed in the "National Informatization Development Report (2025)" released by the Cyberspace Administration of China.

The report highlights that the added value of China's digital economy core industries exceeded 10.5% of GDP. Revenue from the digital industry reached 39.6 trillion yuan, an 8.8% year-on-year growth. The software industry reported revenues of 15.48 trillion yuan, up 13.2%, while the computer, communication, and other electronic equipment manufacturing sector grew by 10.6%.

Emerging sectors, including AI-powered mobile phones, computers, and glasses, saw accelerated adoption. Agricultural drone penetration surpassed 300,000 units, covering over 460 million mu annually. The adoption of digital R&D tools in key industrial enterprises reached 85.5%, with critical process automation at 68.6%.

Digitalization in the service sector also improved, with digital consumption reaching 25.3 trillion yuan, an 8.7% increase. E-commerce and live streaming further boosted online retail sales, which totaled 15.97 trillion yuan in 2025, an 8.6% rise. The national medical insurance platform covered 1.33 billion people, and social security card holders reached 1.39 billion.

User numbers for online audio and video services grew to 1.099 billion. Short-form video content emerged as a new growth area in cultural consumption, with a market size exceeding 100 billion yuan.
