China's Software Industry Revenue Up 9.5% in H1 2026

China's software and information technology services sector recorded revenue of 7.7182 trillion yuan during the first half of 2026, a 9.5% increase compared to the same period last year. While revenue grew steadily, the sector's overall profit growth experienced a slowdown, increasing by only 1.0%.

Information technology services accounted for the largest share of total revenue at 68.5%, with income reaching 5.2907 trillion yuan, a 10.4% rise. Key segments within IT services, such as cloud computing and big data, reported a 12.1% increase in revenue, contributing 887.7 billion yuan. Integrated circuit design also saw significant growth, up 20.1%.

Revenue from software products increased by 6.9% to 1.6761 trillion yuan. Basic software revenue grew by 10.6%, while industrial software revenue saw an 8.2% increase. The sector's export revenue also showed positive momentum, rising by 11.4% to $33.79 billion.

Geographically, the eastern region remained the largest contributor to software revenue, growing by 9.5%. The central region experienced the fastest growth at 13.5%, outpacing the national average. Beijing, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shanghai, and Shandong were the top five provinces by revenue.
