China's space station has been operating stably for five years, and the nation's space medicine and health protection system has reached an internationally advanced level. This was announced at the first national conference on space medicine and engineering, which highlighted the country's efforts in ensuring astronaut well-being.
The conference detailed that China has established an integrated health protection system for astronauts. This system encompasses five key components: protection against microgravity effects, nutritional support, medical monitoring and care, psychological support, and environmental safety. The overall system has been assessed as being at an internationally advanced standard.
Regarding life support systems, China is working on developing more advanced and sustainable solutions, aiming to transition from current "physicochemical" regenerative systems to controlled ecological systems. The "Wang Yu" lunar spacesuit, designed for moon missions, prioritizes lightweight design, miniaturization, and high safety. Its development involves breakthroughs in dozens of key technologies necessary for extravehicular activities in the moon's complex environment.
In the field of space brain science, the space station has been equipped with internationally novel facilities for low-stimulation brain-computer interfaces and equipment for testing and regulating collective brain activity. Experiments conducted by astronauts have led to several international firsts and new discoveries. Research into adaptation mechanisms to special environments within space medicine is also being extended to civilian healthcare applications.
Data released in June indicates that 267 scientific and applied projects have been undertaken on China's space station. In the past year alone, 86 such experiments were conducted. Approximately 1,179 kilograms of scientific materials were transported to the station, and about 105 kilograms of experimental samples were returned. The amount of scientific data collected exceeds 150 terabytes.
