Chinese Authorities Mandate Rapid Deployment of Integrated Televisions

China's National Radio and Television Administration has ordered the acceleration of integrated TV installations by year-end to streamline the consumer experience.

3 November 2026

China's National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA) has issued a directive requiring telecommunications and hardware providers to expedite the installation and deployment of integrated television systems. The mandate covers both private residences and public institutions, such as eldercare facilities, with a deadline to complete the rollout by the end of the calendar year.

The administration requires manufacturers to strictly adhere to established technical standards, which include mandatory single-remote control compatibility and the prioritization of live broadcast functions. Manufacturers are being pushed to accelerate procurement and ensure that pre-installed TV applications provide a stable and consistent user interface.

This policy follows previous regulatory actions aimed at simplifying the viewing experience. Earlier in October, authorities implemented rules requiring smart televisions to boot directly into live channel broadcasts and prohibited the display of startup advertisements, aiming to eliminate technical barriers for users.
