Chinese Customs Seize 79 Used Mobile Phones Smuggled Against Bodies
Chinese customs at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge seized 79 used mobile phones strapped to the bodies of two travelers. The individuals exhibited suspicious behavior and attempted to conceal the devices.

Zhuhai Gongbei Customs officials seized 79 used mobile phones from two travelers on September 4. The individuals were attempting to smuggle the devices by strapping them to their bodies as they crossed the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
Customs officers observed two travelers pushing baby carriages who displayed heavy steps and unusual behavior, raising suspicions of smuggling. Although they claimed the children in the strollers were their own, officers discovered a total of 79 used mobile phones bound to the travelers' waists, thighs, and calves, wrapped in plastic film.
Customs authorities stated that this method of smuggling electronic products by strapping them to the body is a typical form of illicit carrying. The case is currently undergoing further disposition according to regulations.
The seizure highlights ongoing efforts by Chinese authorities to combat the smuggling of goods, particularly electronic devices, across its borders.
