Chinese Documentary 'Voices of Hehe' to Examine UN Relations

The Chinese documentary series "Voices of Hehe," centered on the principle of "harmony and cooperation," is slated for broadcast. The five-episode production will premiere on CCTV-4 on October 12 at 8:00 PM, planned and produced by the "National Memory" program of the Global Chinese Language Program Center of CMG.

The documentary commemorates the 55th anniversary of the restoration of the People's Republic of China's lawful seat in the United Nations. It deviates from conventional chronological narration, employing a dual-track narrative structure that intertwines historical logic with contemporary practices. The series begins with landmark moments, including the signing of the UN Charter in 1945 and the restoration of China's UN seat in 1971, tracing China's journey within the UN-centered international system over more than half a century.

"Voices of Hehe" delves into China's four key global initiatives: the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative. The series aims to present the historical underpinnings and current practices of these initiatives, alongside China's engagement within the UN system.

The production seeks to translate grand diplomatic themes into tangible personal stories and real-life case studies. By combining historical records, field cases, and diverse international perspectives, it aims to create a visually and emotionally resonant work that helps the international community understand the spirit of the UN Charter and the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind.
