Chinese EDA Tool Coverage Increases to 85%

The coverage of Chinese Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools has increased to 85%, up from less than 30%, according to statements by Huada Nine Heavens Chairman Liu Weiping. He noted that while some specialized tools have reached international advanced levels, the industry still lacks comprehensive supply chain support and the performance of certain tools requires further improvement.

Liu Weiping shared these insights at the 26th China International Industry Fair. He highlighted that China's EDA industry is continuously complementing its product chain. The domestic adoption rate for EDA tools in segmented fields like flat panel displays, storage, and wafer manufacturing has exceeded 50%.

Furthermore, Liu Weiping estimated that the coverage of domestic EDA ecosystem platforms for major process nodes has reached 50% and is projected to hit 85% by the end of the current year.

EDA tools are often referred to as the "mother of chips" in the semiconductor and microelectronics sectors, serving as essential software for designing complex integrated circuits containing hundreds of millions of transistors.
