Chinese Panel Makers Set to Dominate Automotive Display Shipments

China-based panel manufacturers are forecast to account for 65.2% of global automotive display shipments in the second half of 2026, an increase from 59% in the first half of the year. This represents a significant expansion from their 28.1% share in 2019, having reached 56.6% in 2025.

The shift is attributed to the ongoing restructuring of LCD production facilities outside of China. Declining profitability is compelling manufacturers to close, sell, or repurpose older factories.

According to industry analysis, the number of operational automotive-related amorphous-silicon and oxide LCD production lines outside mainland China could fall from seven in 2026 to just three by 2028. Conversely, Chinese suppliers are maintaining a robust production base, concentrating their output in larger, more efficient facilities.

This trend solidifies China's growing dominance in the global supply chain for automotive displays.
