China's railways have transported over 123 million passengers since the start of the summer travel season on July 1.

China's railways have seen over 123 million passenger trips since the beginning of the summer travel season (ๆ่ฟ) on July 1, up to and including July 9, according to data released by the national railway operator China State Railway Group (ๅฝ้้ๅข) and reported by CCTV.
Passenger traffic has been concentrated in key economic regions including Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the Yangtze River Delta, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the Chengdu-Chongqing area. The Chengdu railway administration alone has surpassed 10 million passengers, marking a significant increase compared to the same period last year.
To accommodate the rising travel demand, the Chengdu railway administration has added 11 pairs of overnight high-speed trains from July 10 to July 12. These services connect major cities across North, Central, South, Northwest, and Southwest China.
For context, during the entire July-August period in 2023, Chinese railways transported a total of 943 million passengers. Both passenger and freight volumes reached record highs that year.
