Chinese smart metro train unveiled at Berlin rail expo

A new generation Chinese metro train, incorporating "embodied intelligence" technology for environmental awareness and fault prediction, made its global debut at the InnoTrans rail technology exhibition in Berlin on September 22.

The train is equipped with over 600 sensors, cameras, and radar, coupled with an onboard computing platform. This setup allows the train to gather real-time data on its surroundings and operational status, enabling AI-driven identification of anomalies and early fault warnings.

Utilizing lightweight materials and integrated multi-system design, the train also aims to reduce energy consumption. This technological advancement is presented as a significant step in enhancing the safety and efficiency of urban rail transport.

Alongside the intelligent metro, a Chinese hydrogen fuel cell hybrid locomotive was also showcased at the event. This locomotive offers a low-emission power source for non-electrified lines and shunting operations, contributing to the broader trend of decarbonization in the railway industry.
